Isn't this bloom from one of our "Natchez" Crepe Myrtles pretty? This tree happened to be the prettiest and most prominent in the yard, but that weird cold snap that we got last spring really did a number on it. It limped along through June and July, but then the drought got the best of it. Even though we irrigate our yard it just wasn't enough. The tree was unable survive the double insult of the being frozen after leafing out, then the heat and lack of water of last summer.
We cut it back to the ground thinking it was dead, but it suckered out this spring and now it's blooming again.
Hopefully it will be once again be the beautiful graceful tree it was.
